Windows 98 Dialup networking Installation

  1. Please have your Windows 98 CD or diskettes handy
  2. Double-click My Computer on your desktop
  3. Double-click the Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Windows Setup
  4. Click the Communications.
  5. Click the Details... button.
  6. Put a check in the box next to Dial-Up Networking | OK
  7. Click OK again.
  8. Windows 98 will prompt you for your installation diskettes or CD.
  9. Wait for Dial-Up Networking to install.
  10. When you are told to restart, click OK.
  11. Click the Start | Shut Down.
  12. Select Restart the computer? | Yes.
  13. Wait for Windows 98 to restart
  14. Proceed to Make a new connection.

 

Configuration

  1. Double-click the My Computer | Dial-Up Networking icon.
  2. Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
  3. Under Type a name for the computer you are dialing type CCINet Connection.
  4. Make sure that your modem is listed under Select Modem.
  5. Click the Next button.
  6. Determine which access number (POP) is local for you. Refer to CCI documentation that was sent to you. Or go to our: Local Access Numbers
  7. Type the area code and telephone numbers in the appropriate fields.
  8. Click Next.

 

 
  1. Click Finish.
  2. Click the CCINet Connection icon.
  3. Click File | Properties from the menu bar.
  4. Click the Server Type button. You should have following window.
 
  1. Choose PPP, Windows 98, Windows NT 3.5, Internet.
  2. Uncheck Log on to network.
  3. Uncheck NetBEUI.
  4. Uncheck IPX/SPX Compatible.
  5. Check | Click on the TCP/IP Settings button.

 

 
  1. Select Server assigned IP address.
  2. Select Server assigned name server addresses.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Click OK again.
  5. Click OK one more time.
